Question 2 of 6
2. Question
Question 2
In this question you will be selecting and sizing the battery based on the loads and demands. Note: Selecting and sizing the battery is an iterative process. The process is as follows:
- Select a battery from the provided list in the project brief.
- Calculate the loads and maximum demand the grid connected battery needs to supply.
- Ensure the battery you selected is suitable for your loads and maximum demand you just calculated.
- If it is not suitable you will either need to select a different battery or simply increase the number of batteries.
- In the next question you will state the final BESS and configuration.
a) Determine the minimum usable battery capacity to supply the loads during the 5 – 11pm period. Assume the cable efficiency from the battery to the loads is 97%. Answer to two decimal places and count a minimum usable battery capacity in Wh
Hint: Ensure you include the relevant efficiencies in your calculation; BESS efficiency, cable efficiency and battery capacity temperature derating. Refer to sizing and selecting battery storage book.

5. Question
Question 5
Can your selected battery provide (a) the capacity, and (b) the maximum demand that you have calculated? If not, will increasing the number of batteries work? Will selecting another battery model work better? State your final BESS configuration in this question.-
c) Selection of BESS equipment and configuration
State the selected BESS with their size and configuration. Refer to the BESS datasheet and manufacturer’s installation manual. Answer with two decimal points.
